The majority of our new build properties come complete with the latest renewable energy solutions from solar and photovoltaic panels through to air and ground heat source pumps and whole house ventilation systems are included in our new properties. These technologies, combined with heat recovery and Rainwater Harvesting Systems, combine to make your home both highly efficient and more environmentally efficient. As a company we continue to improve and upgrade these processes as the technology becomes available to us.
HEAT SOURCE PUMPS
Ground and Air Source Pumps
Essentially there are two types of Heat Source Pumps, Ground and Air. Air source heat pumps absorb heat from the outside air in the same way that a fridge extracts heat from its inside. This is effective even at temperatures as low as -15°C. Ground source pumps utilise pipes buried either horizontally or vertically in the garden area to extract heat from the ground via an antifreeze based fluid through a network of pipes. The heat generated by both systems can, via a heat pump, be used to heat radiators, underfloor or warm air heating systems and hot water in your home.
SOLAR AND PHOTOVOLTAIC PANELS
Solar panel electricity systems, also known as solar photovoltaics (PV/PVT), capture the sun's energy using photovoltaic cells. These cells don't need direct sunlight to work - they can still generate some electricity on a cloudy day. The cells convert the sunlight into electricity, which can be used to run household appliances and lighting. In addition there are currently benefits to be gained by way of a Feed-in Tariff, this is paid back to you depending on the amount of energy your system generates and the tariff agreed.
HEAT RECOVERY AND VENTILATION
The principle behind whole house ventilation is to change the air continuously within the house and use the recovered heat as it's extracted to warm the incoming air via extract points situated around the house. Extract points are generally located in wet areas such as bathrooms, kitchen, utility and WC whilst the supply points would be located in areas such as bedrooms, living and dining rooms. The fundamental part of the entire system is a high efficiency counter-flow heat exchanger and pollen filtration system. This heat exchanger transfers up to 90% of the heat retrieved from the extracted “wet” air to the incoming fresh air.
Surface Water Recycling
Rainwater harvesting works by collecting water from your gutters, gullies and other areas of surface water through a networks of pipes into an underground storage tank. The tank's integrated filter removes any unwanted particles allowing the oxygen rich water to be directed on demand, via a pumped system, to deliver the clean rainwater to toilets, washing machines, garden taps and irrigation systems. To ensure a constant supply of water at all times the system has an automatic mains water top up facility thus ensuring a water supply even when the rainwater levels are low.
WHOLE HOUSE AUTOMATION
'Lutron HomeWorks' lighting and home automation is a premier home automation and light control for luxury homeowners.
